GMERS Medical College Sola established under the Gujarat Medical Education & Research Society, Ahmedabad is affiliated to Gujarat University. It is recognized by Government of India and Medical Council of India to admit 200 students.
GMERS Medical College Sola, Ahmedabad was inaugurated by the Honorable Health Minister of Gujarat in 2009. The attached Civil Hospital Sola was inaugurated in 1986 and started providing general medical care with post partum services. Over the period hospital gradually got sanctioned into different specialties.
The hospital plan is basically made up of 5 blocks. In 1986 only Block A was started; B block and E block came up later. In 2009 hospital had 56 sanctioned beds and now it is having 720 beds along with other critical care beds. Overall beds can be increased up to 900 based on the current infrastructure.
Hospital has a turnout of 70% of urban-rural patients. At present, hospital has not only got high inflow of patients in OPD but is having bed occupancy of more than 75 %. Location of the hospital and its accessibility has given it a good opportunity to serve the urban-rural population of the surrounding area who cannot afford to avail of the expensive treatment offered by nearby private healthcare organizations in the city.
Pune (Maharashtra), Jan 8 : Chief of Army Staff, General MM Naravane, on Friday inaugurated a new Command Hospital at the Pune Military Station, officials said here.
A multi-speciality tertiary facility, the new hospital will focus to provide medical support to troops deployed in operational areas and veterans of the armed forces.
Earlier, on a visit to the Southern Command Headquarters in Pune, Gen Naravane was received by Lt Gen CP Mohanty, Commander of the Army’s Southern Command, an official said.
Lt Gen Mohanty briefed Gen Naravane on various operational and training issues, and updated him on the contributions of the Southern Command troops in humanitarian and disaster relief operations, particular assisting civil administrations during Covid-19 pandemic and floods in several parts of Maharashtra.
On his part, Gen Naravane lauded the Southern Command for maintaining a “high state of combat-readiness and training” despite the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic across the country.
Appreciating the initiatives and welfare projects undertaken by the Southern Command to improve the quality of life of the troops and their families, Gen Naravane reiterated the Army’s commitment to national efforts in overcoming the challenges posed by the pandemic.
Bundelkhand Medical College (BMC) is a full-fledged tertiary government medical college in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh. Dr S.C. Tiwari, acted as the first dean of this college. The first batch of M.B.B.S was admitted in 2009. This institute is currently being developed as the biggest centre for improving the medical teaching activity as well as higher quality health facilities for the people of entire Bundelkhand region.
The college imparts the degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS). Nursing and para-medical courses are also offered. Post-graduation courses (MD/MS) are offered in 11 subjects currently. The college is affiliated to Madhya Pradesh Medical Science University (from 2014 onwards) and is recognized by Medical Council of India. Until 2013, it was affiliated to Dr Hari Singh Gour University, Sagar. The selection to the college is done on the basis of merit through National Eligibility and Entrance Test.
AIIMS Jodhpur hospital has five floor Out-patient department (OPD) Block housing all broad and super-speciality except Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PMR) department which is housed separately on ground-floor accessible to all patients with disability. OPD is disabled friendly with 6 elevators (Lifts) and ramp. Emergency & Trauma block is accessible through Gate 3 with ambulance bay. The block has ground, first and second floors while emergency triage is located at ground-floor. Emergency OT’s are located at ground-floor and 2nd floor. Trauma Intensive Care is located on 2nd floor. The emergency block also houses a Dialysis Unit on the first floor with 11 machines. The diagnostic block is located backside of the Emergency block on ground and 1st floor. Advanced equipments are available in Radiology department which includes two CT scanners, two MR scanners (3T), Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA) suite for all interventional procedures along with fluoroscopy, Mammography, sonography and digital X-rays. The Nuclear Medicine department is having a PET-CT scan. Pathology department is having facilities for Immunohistochemistry (IHC) and Molecular pathology supported by Department of Health Research -“DHR-ICMR Advance Medical Oncology Diagnostic Services (DIAMONDS)” [26] The institute has 30 modular Operation Theaters, 30 bedded Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 16 bedded Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and 18 bedded Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Robotic surgeries are being carried out for difficult to reach areas like Urology, gynecology, Pediatric and cancer surgeries. More than 500 robotic surgeries have been performed by December 2021. Overall, the institute is able to provide high class care for difficult, high risk and cases with dilemma.
It was established in 2012. The total campus accounts for an area of about 100 acres on the outskirts of the city. Being geographically located in the centre of India, it lodges students from all over the country, particularly states like Kerala, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, etc.

The All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (Amendment) Bill, 2012, was introduced in the Lok Sabha on 27 August 2012.[8] Lok Sabha passed the AIIMS (Amendment) Bill, 2012 on 30 August 2012.[9] Bill was then introduced in Rajya Sabha on 3 September 2012.[10][11] Rajya Sabha passed the Bill on 4 September 2012.[12][13] Bill got its assent from the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee on 12 September 2012 and the Act came into force.[14] The proposed measure will help the Centre change the status of the six new AIIMS registered under the Indian Societies Registration Act to be autonomous body corporate on the lines of the existing AIIMS in Delhi.
Jorhat Medical College & Hospital, founded in 2010, is a government-run medical college affiliated to Srimanta Shankardeva University of Health Sciences. Jorhat Medical College offers 125 MBBS seats along with courses under specialisation such as Paediatrics, General Medicine, ENT, Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, etc. The college is yet to provide courses under super specialisation. All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Bhubaneswar is one of the apex healthcare Institutes established by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY). Under this scheme six new All India Institutes of Medical Sciences have been established at Patna, Raipur, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Jodhpur and Rishikesh apart from the one at New Delhi.
In his Independence Day Speech on August 15, 2003, then prime minister Atal Bihari Vajapayee announced opening up of 6 AIIMS Hospitals at Patna, Raipur, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Jaipur and Rishikesh under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) launched for up gradation of medicare facilities in underserved areas of the country besides providing quality medical education in super-specialty disciplines in these areas.
The foundation stone of this institute in Bhubaneswar was laid by then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajapayee on July 15, 2003.
All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Bhubaneswar was established as autonomous institution and institute of National importance through the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (Amendment) Ordinance passed on 16th July, 2012.
In 2004, the central government decided to set up new AIIMS at Rishikesh, Bhopal, Patna, Jodhpur, Bhubaneswar and Raipur. Though the foundation stone for the ₹ 350-crore project (2004 estimate) was laid in 2004 during Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s tenure, the project was delayed owing to the power shift at the centre, and its cost escalated from ₹3.35 billion (US$42 million) to ₹8.5 billion (US$110 million). As of 2015, AIIMS Patna had been under construction for more than eight years.
The official state of AIIMS Patna was set through an ordinance, which allowed six AIIMS—like institutes to become operational from September 2012.[9] This was replaced by the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (Amendment) Bill, 2012, which was passed in the Lok Sabha in August of that year and in the Rajya Sabha in September.
AIIMS-P doubled the intake of students into its MBBS course to 100 in 2013 from 50 in 2012. In May 2018, a blood bank and eight new departments were inaugurated. In August 2018, an emergency and trauma centre, eight modular operation theatres and an additional 250 beds at the inpatient department (IPD) were inaugurated.

The hospital now has two state-of-the-art operation theatres, a 15-bedded ICU, a 10-bedded emergency and an OPD.
The emergency building has been named after ancient Indian surgeon Sushruta and the OPD has been named Dhanwantri. These facilities are built at a cost of Rs 7crores as a part of the first phase of modernisation and renovation of the hospital.
Addressing the gathering during the inauguration, the CM said, earlier Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on his visit to Bastar had stressed upon improving the health care facilities her so that the residents do not have to travel for treatment. He said, when he visited Jagdalpur in January this year, the people’s representatives told him about the problems and lack of proper facilities at Maharani Hospital. He then gave instructions to the district collector and the hospital managed to improve the health facilities by renovating the hospital.
